Twelve games to check out in this round up of Indie Game releases. May the forth be with you! 😉
Ambient Water is a screensaver style application that lets you choose from six different locations including a beach and rainforest. The images are static and related audio is played, i.e. waves for the beach. Nothing else to really say about it as that is all the application does. Ambient Water costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Avatar Deluxe Blackjack is a Blackjack game for up to four players locally and seven over Xbox Live. Presentation is done well with spoken audio to give some atmosphere. One slightly annoying issue is that the sequences can be a little lengthy such as when each player is playing their hand, you cant skip the sequences. Other than that it seems to be a decent blackjack game and if there are enough players online it could be a laugh. Avatar Deluxe Blackjack costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Avatar Hamster Panic is an up to four player local game in which your avatar is placed inside an hamster ball and must fall down the screen, navigating platforms and be the first to collect Golden Shakes. This is a simple but quite enjoyable game and while I could only play it in single player against CPU opponents I could imagine this being great fun with some friends. Either way, at 80 :MSPoints:, it is well worth checking out! More information can be found on the Marketplace.
Avatar Surfing Challenge is a single player arcade game. You control your avatar who is on a surfboard and must navigate the buoys while collecting floating coins. Two modes are available to play; Challenge and Arcade, only Challenge was available in the trial though but it did give a good feel for the game. The game is fairly fun and the controls are a little floaty but this is expected as you are in water. Worth checking out at least. Avatar Surfing Challenge costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Classic Spider is a card game of the Spider Solitaire variant. I am sure I have played the game in the past but I could not remember the rules, help is provided in the game so I was soon up to speed. The game sets out to do exactly what it is supposed to do and does it as well as can be expected. If you like card games then this should be perfect. Classic Spider costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Decay – Part 1 is a point and click adventure game. Without giving too much away, you awaken in a room and must work out what has gone on in the previous events. You do this by exploring the location, finding and interacting with objects to progress in the game. This looks to be a great game and the atmosphere is quite eerie, one bit of advice is to turn the brightness up a touch as I missed an object because it was too dark. If there is one game you must check out from this round up it is this game! Decay – Part 1 costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.
HomeSlice and the Zombie Bunnies is a survival arena style game. You must shoot, dice and slice the waves of Zombie Bunnies. Graphics and gameplay are fairly good but the one hit and you are dead was a little tricky to play, you do get multiple lives though. If you enjoy twin stick survival games then be sure to check this one out. HomeSlice and the Zombie Bunnies costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Juggler is a single player game where you must juggle an increasing number of balls. You keep them in the air via your paddle and after a while it becomes quite tricky to play as you try to manage several balls at once. It is hard to recommend this game when there are others in this round up that are much better. Juggler costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Pop Dog is a single player game which sees you control one of those annoying little dogs that celebrities have. The dog must pop a number of bubbles before the timer runs out and repeat ad infinitum. It is quite a basic game and you will likely get bored before the trial is over. Pop Dog costs 240 :MSPoints:, probably catering for rich celebs then? More information can be found here.
Singularity is a arcade style game where you must control a space ship and destroy asteroids. A black hole is in the center of the screen and affects your trajectory so you must be careful not to get sucked in. It is a fairly fun game and if you enjoy a challenge this is one to check out. Singularity costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Space Maze is a puzzle game where you must collect stars by moving horizontally or vertically around the screen, using blocks or other items to stop your movement. I love this puzzle game genre and Space Maze comes with a decent number of levels to play on over a few difficulty levels. If you like puzzle games in general this is one to check out! Space Maze costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.
Super Avatar Hero Force is a simple yet fun arcade game. You play the character of a wannabe hero and must defeat the incoming zombie avatars by punching or kicking them. Occasionally a kitten will stray into your path so you must be careful not to harm them 🙂 Like I said, it is a really simple game which basically requires you to press a button at the optimal time, but the game is done well. Super Avatar Hero Force costs 80 :MSPoints: and is worth checking out at least. More information can be found here, and a trailer below.
Titles that have received a software update or price change are Snake4D, Weapon of Choice, Kodu Game Lab, Abduction Action!, RC-AirSim, Breath of Death VII, Felix: Tale of the Night and Project Delta.
