Only the five indie games released in the past week giving some respite from the recent floods of ten in a couple of days.
Must Try Releases
Rock A Block is a racing/puzzle game of sorts where you must rotate your coloured block to match the colour of the block underneath you. Support for two players, either CPU or Human is featured and the game comes with nine tracks that you can play in race and championship modes. Gameplay is fun and it does require some planning ahead to change colours quickly and also collect the coins which can be used to purchase addons. Playing against the CPU works well but against a friend this should be great fun! Rock A Block costs just 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.
Apple Jack is a platform game where you play as an apple who is trying to get to Mount Snowdon. Along the way you will come across Pandas and other enemies that can be picked up and thrown against others or used as platforms. Graphics are done well and are bright and colourful, the jumping feels right so no complaints. There are over 100 levels to play through so this seems to be excellent value for your 80 :MSPoints:. More information can be found here.
Worth Trying
Plasma Spheres 2 is a survival style game where you must defend against waves of enemies. Unlike most games of this genre Plasma Spheres 2 is played in a front view 2D platform style and it works well, although the jumping can feel a little floaty. You control a sphere and can pick up a wealth of power ups and addons to defeat the enemy spheres. There are a few game modes, with a RPG style XP upgrade system, and support for up to four players. Plasma Spheres 2 costs 80 :MSPoints: and is worth checking out, more information can be found here and a trailer below.
Try if you must
Avatar Paintball is a avatar paintball shooter game. This is primarily an online game for up to 16 players, unfortunately I was unable to try it as it is locked in the trial version. There is a single player Practice mode that only features static targets to shoot. Graphics are done well, I did find the aiming and shooting a little weird as the character is off center. The problem with this game is that it mainly an online game which requires people to buy and play the game, there is no way to tell if anyone has purchased the game so I think it would be a risk to pay the 240 :MSPoints: for this. More information can be found here.
A Game of Hockey is a Pong inspired arcade game. Up to four players can play with two paddles on each side. Graphics and presentation are very basic and sound effects are missing, a few beeps and blops would have helped. There is not really much for your 80 :MSPoints: compared to others in this round up, give it a miss unless you want a Pong style game. More information can be found here.
