It is our last Xbox Indie Games Round Up of the year with 27 new releases and 5 updates.
Due to Christmas celebrations and four days away from home, I have had no time at all to put together a compilation of game play footage for this weeks releases, the video should hopefully be back for next weeks round up. Keep an eye out tomorrow for the start of our three special XBLIG Round Up articles covering the best games of 2010. Don’t forget to let us know what your favourite games were here!
Here are this weeks releases and updates sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games. Casino Nights is a casino game which includes Blackjack, Roulette, Video Poker and Slot machines. The graphics are not amazing but the game plays well and there are challenges to unlock trophies. This game is ideal for a quick go every now and again to see how much you can win and is well worth checking out. Casino Nights costs 80 :MSPoints: so it will not break the bank unlike real gambling. Petunk is a fairly original puzzle game played in a top down view mini golf game style. The aim is to get the scrunched up balls of paper into the target area by bouncing them off walls or other objects. The graphics are basic but the puzzles are well designed and should keep you on your toes working out how to complete them. It is something different to the usual shooters and platform games released. Petunk costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found on the Marketplace.
REVOLVER360 is a horizontal scrolling game, the twist is quite literally that you can revolve the screen. This allows you to turn a wall of bullets into a single bullet, perfect for getting out of those bullet hell style situations. I found the graphics to be blurry which was strange to see and may be off putting for some people. It is a nice change to the shooter genre and worth checking out the trial at least. Zombiez 8 My Cookiez is a twin stick shooter at heart. There are a bunch of cookies on a table and the Zombies have realised cookies taste just as good as brains and they want them! You must defend the cookies from the Zombies by killing them. If the Zombies reach the cookies they will start to drag them off to the side of the screen so you must try to return the cookies by dragging them, all the time shooting the other Zombies that appear. This is quite a challenging game and it is good to see the now generic twin stick Zombie shooter with something new to give it some life. Zombiez 8 My Cookiez does cost 400 :MSPoints: so it is more expensive than most other XBLIG but I would definitely check out the trial at least. BoneD: Dead Men Don’t Jump – The WORLD’s #1 undead parkour racing simulator for your Xbox 360. Vertigo is a platform racing game that combines jumps and speed to deliver fast adrenalin pumping action in a game for everyone, regardless of skill level. It’s all about getting yourself from start to finish as fast as possible. You do this by picking up as many powerups as you can because these will then “chain” themselves together to greatly increase your speed towards insane levels! Alien Hunter – Collect all of the parts needed to activate the teleporter while taking care of the aliens that have abducted you. First person alien shooter game. Mancala – A classic board game, Mancala is an easy game to learn but challenging to master. Challenge a friend locally or online or play against the AI opponent.
