Square-Enix announced this morning that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is in development The game is currently slated for release ‘next winter’ which could mean 2011, but we’ll go with 2012 due to the inevitable delays.

The game features a new story that stems from Final Fantasy XIII as well as an evolved battle system from FFXIII. Other new features will be announced as the game grows closer to release.
