This weeks Xbox Indie Games Round Up sees 18 new releases and 14 updated titles.
Below is this weeks XBLIG compilation video of this weeks releases. I left Final Rift out of the compilation as it is a space combat game (a bit like Elite), you start the game in a small ship so the video would have not been very interesting. Watch the trailer on Page 2 for footage of the game. Also, a quick note that next weeks Round Up may be late as I am away over the weekend for a friends wedding, so it should be online by Monday.
Below are this weeks releases and updates sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games, the rest use the developers descriptions. Please take a look at all the games as something may interest you. Geddon it!
Ninja360° is inspired by games such as Super Meat Boy and Lazy Raiders, and it is a very enjoyable action puzzle game. You play the character of a Ninja who breaks into fraudsters houses and steal their coins. Like all good Ninjas, yours can climb walls and the draw is that the screen rotates to match your character if he turns direction. You must complete the levels in as fast as time as possible by collecting all the coins while avoiding spike traps, climbing walls and working out the best order to collect the coins in. The presentation is done very well and the level designs look to be well thought out. At only 80 :MSPoints: this game looks to be a real bargain and well worth checking out! Battle High: San Bruno is a traditional player vs player fighter game in the same vein as Street Fighter II. The game is set in San Bruno High School where a student gang known as “The Rivals” are in charge and bully other students. You can choose between eight fighters (a mix of gang and students) to fight for justice or greed. Getting the controls right is very important in a fighter and it seems like Battle High has got it right. SFII inspired button combinations are used and they are fairly easy to pull out considering the 360 controller are not made for fighting games. Spermatozoon is a puzzle game where the aim is to fertilise an ovum with sperm, so yeah it is quite original! The ovum is protected by a rotating layer on contraceptive and you must fire sperm either through gaps in the layers or hit the layer to destroy the surrounding area. You have a limited number of sperm, so patience in waiting for gaps to line up for a direct shot are essential to gaining a good score. Admittedly, before playing the game I thought this would be a silly childish game but it is far from it. It is all done very tastefully with good presentation and the game is very enjoyable to play. Project Gert: Moonbreaker – A physics based puzzle game set in the world of Project Gert. Over 200 lines of voice acted dialog. Over 50 levels. Campaign and Challenge mode. Defy Gravity – Defy Gravity is an action platformer that is a mix between Super Mario style platforming, Braid and Portal 2d. Kara, our heroine, has access to a unique gameplay mechanic that she uses to manipulate the world around her. Kara has a gun that is able to alter the laws of physics through the creation of pockets of gravity and anti-gravity.
