Thirteen new indie game releases and nine updated titles in this weeks Xbox Indie Game Round Up.
Here is this weeks compilation video showing game play of the weeks releases. There are some compression artefacts around the pool balls on the ‘Balls’ game clip, it is an encoding issue and not the game.
Up next are this weeks releases sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games, the rest use the developers descriptions, though take a look at all the games as something may interest you. Geddon it!
Balls is a simulation game which features UK and US variants of the popular Pool games. The game is played in ‘Phil’s fruit & Juice bar’ which reminds me a little of Full House Poker with avatars sitting in the background enjoying a drink. Games can be played locally either 1P v CPU or Human, or a tournament with up to four players. An online two player game is also supported and works very well. I bought this game on Friday and have played it a lot, my only annoyance is that when playing online you have a 30 second time limit to take your shot, I would have liked an option to disable it or increase the time. The full game also comes with a mini twin stick shooter and two demos of the developers other games. If you are a fan of Pool you should definitely check it out. Sequence is a rhythm/RPG hybrid game, think of it as a cross between Dance Dance Revolution in game play and Puzzle Quest in battle style. It features some great looking artwork, full voice acting and a soundtrack by Ronald Jenkees. This is a game where the 8 minute time limit does not do the game justice as it is a little complex and the tutorials will take up some of the time. So play the tutorials and restart the game and play the game properly. The aim is to basically match the ‘dance steps’ over a few different fields, when parts of the sequence are completed they will earn you Mana, cast spells, defend and so on. It is a clever take on the once very popular DDR and Guitar Hero style games and breathes some life into the genre. Armehgeddon
Dwarven Depths – A multiplayer platformer that takes place underground. Dig down for gold, but you’ll have to contend with monsters and other players. Gather treasure, lie in wait for an ambush, and lay devious traps. Procedurally-generated levels ensure that no two games are exactly the same. Struggle for subterranean supremacy! Explosive Gas – Fight it out in a battle royale to see who’s the last man standing(and not on fire). Play with up to 8 players locally(2 per controller) or online. Includes multiple game modes and a full level editor that allows you to play your custom levels online or against merciless AI players. Minions! is a mission-based shooter that can be played from both top-down and third-person perspectives. You create a hero, accompanied by a wide range of different minions to help you complete each mission. As the challenges get tougher, your hero will unlock points to spend on upgrades and customized minions.
