Boulder Dash-XL launches on July 13th on XBLA for 800 :MSPoints: and on PC later in the summer. If you are not familiar with the game, it is the sequel to Boulder Dash. Originally released in the mid 80’s and has made it to most of the consoles and computers of the time. You played the character ‘Rockford’ and had to dig around caves collecting jewels and reach the level within the time limit. There were also enemies that you could kill by timing falling rocks or trapping them.
Boulder Dash-XL features a Arcade, Retro and Zen mode as well as Puzzle Mode to challenge players and Score Attack to get the reflexes going. New features include telescopic arms, speed-ups, heavy boulders, teleporters and new enemies. The graphics have also got a revamp with the ability to pan/scroll the playfield while paused, 3D graphics, particle effects, dynamic lighting and over 7 times the amount of caves as the 1984 original release.
