Zen Pinball 2 gains yet another new table this week, this time featuring the likes of Portal. I was never a fan of Portal myself, but from what I’ve played of this table so far, it’s quite fun.
Here’s Zen Studios’ description: “In Portal Pinball, you’ll guide Chell and Wheatley through test chambers by navigating portals, using aerial faith plates, defeating turrets and facing other obstacles, and battling against GLaDOS as you attempt to escape the facility and reach the surface. Additionally, you’ll team up with ATLAS and P-Body for their Cooperative Testing Initiative Multiball and wreak havok on the Turret Factory by discovering Ratman’s hidden mini playfield.”
At first glance, the Portal table has a lot of intricate detail, some fun mini-games, and two sets of flippers. Portal Pinball is a very ramp-focused table so you’ll spend most of your time riding the ramps all around the table, and this extends to the mini-games that you can activate, although factors such as gravity and ball speed will endure extreme changes in these areas.
My first run was pretty rough on the table, but here’s a half decent second attempt that will give you a good idea of what Portal Pinball offers.
