DeRail Games returns with an unofficial sequel to Jump ‘n Bounce.
Panic Attack-Devil’s Favorite is a challenging arcade platform style game where you must get to the end of the level within the time limit. You play as a continuously bouncing ball that can bounce higher by pressing the A button, and lower by pressing B. You also have a speed boost which is charged as you progress through the level and can be used to bounce faster.
At first, the levels appear to be very simple in design and looks. They can often look sparse with only a few platforms, jumps and hazards to populate them, but as you progress you will start to realise this game is anything but simple. Panic Attack falls into the hardcore game category, and as with the recent Super Meat Boy game, this is more suited to players with patience and plenty of it!

Touching any objects such as spikes or flames will result in an instant death and it will return you to either the start of the level, or the mid level checkpoint. Not all objects are against you, you can jump into cannons which fire you across the level saving you some time. You do have infinite lives to complete the level but you are up against a time limit which you must not exceed otherwise you will not unlock the following level. You can get away with a couple of deaths but take too long and that time limit will be reached. In some ways this makes the levels easier to complete, they are not exactly as hard as Super Meat Boy for example, you will be able to complete levels with practice and eventually beat the times.
There are a total of 56 levels which include two ‘Pain’ levels for the truly hardcore gamer. These two levels should not even be considered playing until you have completed a substantial number of the original levels. If you want full to the brim levels containing hazards then by all means play them but be warned they are probably the hardest game levels I have played in any game.
Graphically the game does look rather average, chunky sprites give the game a retro feel so I guess it fits in with the theme of the game. There are occasional graphical artifacts from your characters pixel trail that are left behind, they do not get in the way but they can cause some minor distraction at times. The games music, by 8 Bit Weapon and ComputeHer, are a real highlight to the game with great sounding retro themed tunes, it is like being in the 80’s again! Sound effects are a mixed bag, a retro death tune is loud and brash and will soon grate on you as you hear it for the 20th time, you will be hearing it much more than that so be prepared.
Panic Attack-Devil’s Favorite costs 240 :MSPoints: which is good value for money. You get 56 levels in total which will keep you busy for a great number of hours. This is not a game I would recommend to a casual gamer as the difficulty is ramped up to 11. If you are a sucker for punishment and enjoy playing hardcore games then this is a perfect game to satisfy your needs.
