In an era where everyone seems to be attached to their PlayStations, Xbox’s, Wii’s, and smartphone or tablet games, it’s easy to get swept away in the excitement. Sure, games such as Call of Duty and the FIFA football series are incredible games that provide hours of entertainment and have some truly amazing graphics, we shouldn’t forget that there is still another platform out there.
PCs have been built specifically for gamers with advanced graphics cards and super-fast processors that utilize the quicker-than-ever connection speeds so that gamers can play with and against people from all over the world whenever they like, wherever they like. This has been proven with the sheer number of people who play on Mecca Bingo each day playing all kinds of games, while others will connect headsets to their systems so they can even communicate with the other players through the Internet.
Microsoft have recently taken a big step to promote their PC gaming sector. Having created one of the biggest selling consoles of all time in the Xbox 360, the tech giants have now turned their focus to the computer and have hired the man behind successful campaigns at Valve, Jason Holtman, in order to do so. Holtman was tasked with communicating with game studios and the various developers, getting the games onto Steam and overseeing the digital sales side of things, so he certainly knows his stuff which can only be good for Windows gamers.
“Halo – Spartan Assault” has recently been released in PC format, and as a highly successful game on the Xbox, it’s a huge sign of intent from Microsoft to release the game for the PC and many around the gaming industry feel that this could be a sign of things to come in the next few years.
More and more people are becoming “computer literate” these days and are playing games at every opportunity. You only have to see the sheer number of people in offices playing online games – such as the aforementioned Mecca Bingo – during their lunch breaks or playing on their days off, maybe after the kids have gone to bed, or while “working” at home in the evenings.
