I will shortly be performing some maintenance on the site so you may see some weird goings on or receive a message that the site is offline. The maintenance is to fix the commenting system which has gone slightly out of sync between the site and IntenseDebate. I am hoping that no comments will be lost but in the worst case the latest two to four comments may be deleted so I will repost them if needed.
And just to make it clear, the comments are working fine. The problem is that on the front page the number of comments on each post (in the article image) is not correctly counting the actual number of comments. No comments have been lost, but we wanted to wait until the Puzzle Chronicles competition had ended and the winner decided before we went ahead with the maintenance just in case something messes up.
I will update this post once everything is fixed.
[UPDATE] I cant find out what the cause of the problem is. Deleting the IntenseDebate database does not delete it (only hides it) so I need to email them tomorrow and ask them to manually delete it or something and then resync again. For the moment I have reverted to the built in comment system. There are a couple of missing comments so I will restore them once everything is fixed.
[UPDATE 2] Installed Disqus so hopefully that is more reliable than IntenseDebate. Let me know in the comments below if you have any problems.
