19 new releases and 14 updates in this weeks round up of Xbox Indie Games.
The past week has seen the start of the Indie Games Winter Uprising where the aim is to release a number of quality games over the week. These games are being covered by us every day or two as the XBLIG peer review can sometimes delay a game. You get two releases on one day and none on the other. Our first part of our coverage can be read here.
Below is this weeks releases compilation video showing gameplay footage from all the games released this week. The footage for Break Limit is squashed, I have a SD capture card and it displayed this way in SD on the Xbox 360, it displays fine in HD. As always, feedback on the videos is welcome and you can leave it in the comments on this page or on the Youtube page.
Before we get on to this weeks round up. Please remember to visit our sponsors Game Points who are an online store selling cheap Microsoft Points, Xbox Live Subscriptions, PSN Cards, Nintendo Points and much more.
Here are this weeks releases and updates sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games. Please take a look at all the games as something may interest you. Trailers for the new releases can be found on Page 2.
Geddon it!
Epic Dungeon – Epic Dungeon is a real time dungeon crawler. It follows the traditional RPG theme with a number of classes to base your character on with varying abilities such as better attacking for warriors or magic for spellcasters. As the game is played in real time instead of the usual turn based method it gives the game a more arcade feel so if you have not been a fan of dungeon crawlers you may be interested in this. Your aim is to work your way down the levels of the dungeons and kill anything along the way, collect items such as new weapons, armour, potions and of course gold. Enemies do respawn if you return to a previously explored area which I found a little annoying as they can sometimes bunch up and prove to be a little trouble to kill. But this is a trial impression based on eight minutes of gameplay so I am sure you will be better quipped to deal with it in further levels. The graphics are a retro inspired style which works well and gives it the a more modern look while keeping it classic at the same time.
Costing only 80 :MSPoints: this looks to be a great value game which should keep you occupied for many hours. More information of Epic Dungeon can be found on the homepage, and you can download the trial version or purchase the full game on the Xbox Marketplace. A trailer can be viewed on Page 2.
Break Limit is no too dissimilar to Hypership Out of Control. It is a vertical and horizontal scrolling shooter style game but instead of dodging objects as in Hypership Out of Control you can shoot them or use your Break Limit to smash through them. Weapons are upgraded as you progress through the level, I got to try a cool laser beam type weapon which made destroying the oncoming objects much easier. Your Break Limit comes in very handy and when fully charged it allows you to smash through objects without taking damage. The graphics and presentation are more slick (and modern looking) than Hypership Out of Control so if you prefer a modern arcade look rather than retro this should be ideal.
More information of Break Limit can be found on the homepage, and you can download the trial version or purchase the full game on the Xbox Marketplace. A trailer can be viewed on Page 2.
Ubergridder is a action game set in space. You control a maintenance robot who must repair the ship one section at a time. The level is designed in grid like squares and you must light up each side of the squares to repair them. Enemies are also present so you must avoid them or if they start to chase you then lose them by changing direction. I guess you could say the game is a cross between Pac Man and a very old game called Oh Mummy. Presentation and graphics are done well and there is plenty of polish. Well worth checking out as Ubergridder costs only 80 :MSPoints:, more information can be found on the Marketplace, a trailer can be found on Page 2.
