Just a few weeks ago we saw the release of FIFA 15, with Barcelona star Lionel Messi as the main cover player. But this month it’s EA Sports’ main football games rival, Konami’s turn. The company released PES 2015 – Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 – on 13 November. And as its cover man, PES 2015 – or Winning Eleven 2015 as it’s known in Asia – features Brazil 2014 world cup winning goal scorer, Mario Gotze. The Bayern Munich player had already been featured in a trailer for the game where his voice delivers a stirring speech about the passion with which he and other players play football, while his PES2015 player cuts through the opposition.
If you can’t get a hold of PES 2015 straightaway, don’t fret. There’s plenty of real European football action going on to keep you entertained while you wait to get your hands on a copy. PES 2015 features players such as Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and both teams are busy on the pitches of Europe as we speak.
Along with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid are current favourites to win the Champions League. Real will be looking to retain their position as European Champions league holders; they won the Championship for a record 10th time in Lisbon last summer, beating their city rivals Atletico. Meanwhile in La Liga betting, Real Madrid and Barca look to be the favourites to win at the end of the season. After 11 weeks of play, Real are in first place for the Spanish League title, with Barcelona just behind them.
On PES 2015, all of the world’s greatest footballers have been recreated with great accuracy, so that they really do resemble the real life players. Star players such as Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barca’s Lionel Messi are easy to pick out on the PES pitch thanks to the fact that their unique styles in dribbling and playing have been captured so well by the graphics team. Overall team characteristics are also well mimicked – for example, the Bayern Munich team will press, attack and defend in the same way they do in real life matches.
Overall, fans of the PES franchise should be more than happy with the game’s reincarnation this year, especially as the last version – PES 2014 – proved to be a bit of a let-down in places. PES 2015 shows a series of improvements in gaming skills of passing, shooting and defending.
Playing PES 2015, you’ll see that there has been a lot of fine-tuning going on so that the game delivers the physicality of football very realistically. Players have complete control on the defensive choices they make – whether there tackle, retain shape or close down.
There’s also the fact the AI is now programmed to constantly update and adjust to what’s happening on the pitch. The team-mates will find space and make intelligent runs while the opposition is also reactive to the action. When the pace changes, the opposition will send in attacking players to try for an equaliser or if the opposition’s leading, it’ll start to play deeper. Rivals are blocked using the body and players can barge each other too.
Last year’s Pro Evolution Soccer didn’t have rain or Stadium Editor, for reasons that were not clear. Both features have made a comeback in PES 2015 and this, along with the fact that you’ll receive weekly updates on transfers and team line-ups, all adds to the player experience.
For players who like complete control and gameplay that is totally unrestricted, PES 2015 will not disappoint. Anyone who was disappointed with PES 2014 shouldn’t dismiss PES 2015 without first giving it a try.
