It’s been another incredible year in the gaming world with developers creating more exciting experiences for players to get stuck in to. It’s also been a year filled with new instalments in a number of hugely successful gaming franchises that players have very anxious on getting their hands on. We take a look at just some of the best PC, XBOX and PlayStation titles released this year.
BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT
This June saw the release of the final game in Rocksteady’s hugely successful Arkham series. ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ was another well received entry in the franchise which used a more open world setup and also featured plenty more Batman gadgets and caped crusader moves for players to wrap their fingers around. The in-game action is set after the events of ‘Batman: Arkham City’ and became the fastest selling game of the year at its release.
HALO 5: GUARDIANS
We had to wait 3 years before we could enjoy catching up once more with the Master Chief and in 2015 he returned in 343 Industries’ next instalment in the epic sci-fi saga. The award-winning first-person shooter landed on shelves at the end of October and was filled with improvements over its predecessor. However, disappointingly the main campaign storyline itself did fall a little flat compared to previous chapters.
RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER
A sequel to a successful reboot can typically go one of two ways. Thankfully however Crystal Dynamic’s ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ has come out on top surpassing expectations and impressing critics and fans of the franchise alike. Currently the game is only available on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One but is being developed for Windows and the PS4 for release in 2016.
STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT
Let’s face it, with the impending release of the new ‘Star Wars’ movie firmly in our minds anything franchise-related that was going to hit this year was likely to be a good sell. EA Digital Illusions’ latest development ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ comes at just the right time and even features a number of characters from the original trilogy which you can control.
