I’m a big fan of puzzle games, they help to exercise your brain and keep your mind active. The puzzle genre is certainly well catered for when it comes to web-browser games. There seems to be an ever-growing number to choose from, some, of course, are better than others. A real advantage with such games is that you don’t have to pay in order to play them – at least if you’re accessing them from your browser. You’ll also find many puzzle games within app stores that can be enjoyed from your smartphone or tablet, too. Color Switch available on Poki.com is the game I am reviewing today. So, let’s begin.
You immediately notice that there are rotating shapes with different coloured sections. It’s the ball that you’ll be controlling and the objective is to pass it though the rings successfully. If you’re playing on your pc, then the mouse acts as the control, simply click to bounce the ball higher, but be careful, you don’t want to hit the wrong colour. Once you collide with the wrong colour, it’s game over. Things will become trickier as you progress, the ball changes colour and the shapes begin to rotate in various directions.
As mentioned before, it’s a brain exercise that is very additive and enjoyable. Testing your reactions, you will only get better as you master the game.Visually pleasing and very colourful, it’s your typical flash game that doesn’t try anything overly fancy. It delivers a retro feel that is certainly welcomed. The sound effects are catchy, too.
Color Switch might be a simple game, but don’t allow that to put you of playing it. I find that it’s the simpler games which are actually the best. Of course, I love my PS4, but I can get really attached to some of these web-browser and smartphone games. Very time consuming, indeed. Addiction factor? High.
Smartphone users on the Android and iOS operating systems can download the game as an app. Instead of using the mouse as the controller, you’ll simply tap your finger to bounce the ball instead. All other elements of the game are similar, however. Importantly, there are 10 games modes, 100 balls to unlock and 1000 levels to complete. Add to this the leaderboard and other achievements and you have plenty to do here.
I’d definitely recommend trying Color Switch, the smartphone version is slightly better than the web-version in my opinion, but either will have you glued to the screen. Once you’ve achieved a great score, you can share it with your friends and fans on social media. I found this encouraged some to try and beat my score, and then things become quite rivalry, which is awesome.
How far will you be able to go? My top score was 104. Try your luck now. You can find more games like this at Poki portal.
